The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three internet fraudsters, who had allegedly been using 'charms' to hypnotize victims into parting with their money and valuable properties. The Command's spokesperson, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu,who confirmed the arrest in a statement made available to journalists said the suspects, Lanre,26, Sukanmi,28 and 26-year-old Opeyemi were picked up from their hideout at Soka area, Ibadan, at about 6.30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, following a tip-off.   "The suspects who had been elusive for some time now, were eventually arrested after several days of intelligence gathering and painstaking investigation carried out by the police," said the PPRO. "During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being internet fraudsters and had defrauded many innocent victims they referred to as ‘clients’ of their hard-earned money in Naira and foreign currencies. Popular Adamawa-based musician, Ado Daukaka, who went missing on Saturday June 25th after he released his controversial new song titled "Gyara kayanka" condemning some politicians in the state, has been found unconscious. According to Rariya, he is presently at Lamurde Health Center in the state.

Mathew Odok, the Nigerian driver killed during Calabar kidnapping that was hardly mentioned in the media

On Wednesday June 22, 30 gunmen ambushed an armed four-car convoy of mine workers at Idundu Bridge around 6-7am on the outskirts of Calabar, Cross River State.  The militants shot dead a Nigerian driver and forced the workers onto a boat under the bridge. Eye witness reports suggests the incident at the bridge was over very quickly. The expatriates includes, three Australians, a Netherlander, a South African and two Ghanaians, who were on their way to a cement manufacturing company, La-Farge Holchim, located at Mfamosing. They are employees of MacMahon Construction Company, a contracting firm working at the Mfamosing plant of the United Cement Company of Nigeria Limited. But, there was scant mention of this Nigerian driver in all media reports His name was Matthew Odok, a driver with the company. Man charged with homicide of his grandparents, sister, nephew and dog after shooting them in the head and setting them on fire (photos)

A 24 year old Missouri man has been charged with 4 counts of homicide after killing his grand dad and mum, sister and 3 month old baby nephew by shooting them on the head and setting them on fire . Grayden Denham of Edgerton in Platte County is accused of murdering his grandparents Russell Denham, 82, and Shirley Denham, 81, his sister Heather Ager, 32, her son, Mason Schiavoni, 3 months and a dog in a terrifying homicide case in February. All the bodies were burning when firefighters arrived and had to put out the flames on each body, Platte County Sheriff Mark Owen said at a press conference on Monday. "Upon further examination of the scene, the following details were revealed: Every victim had sustained one or more gunshot wounds. A 42 year old Houston woman, Christy Sheats  fatally shot her two daughters, 22 year old Taylor Sheats and 17 year old Madison Sheats, when a family dispute moved from their home in a quiet subdivision in suburban Katy, Texas onto the street.  Madison with her mum The Police were called around 5pm on Friday but by the time they got there, Christy Sheats was found standing near the bodies of her two daughters still holding the gun. Madison was pronounced dead on the scene, while Taylor was airlifted to Texas Medical Center in Houston in critical condition on Friday, where she later died on Saturday morning. Five dead in Mogadishu hotel attack claimed by Shabaab

At least five people were killed Saturday in an attack on Naasa Hablood hotel in southern Mogadishu, the Somalian capital, that was quickly claimed by Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shabaab militants. The assault was led by a suicide bomber who drove a car filled with explosives, the jihadists said in an online statement. The hotel is often used by politicians and members of the Somali diaspora who visit the city. The attack started at 4:30 pm (1330 GMT) with a powerful blast from the car, followed by two other explosions and then heavy gunfire. At night time, there was still sporadic gunfire coming from the Naasa Hablood hotel in Mogadishu, after it was stormed by the militants, witnesses said. Three children of a pastor were on Thursday, June 23 attacked by suspected cultists near Benue State University second campus in Makurdi. The victims, who are children of NKST Church pastor, Reverend Akpen Leva reportedly confronted a group of suspected cult boys who had earlier snatched the phone of the youngest sibling and the cultists attacked them with machetes. The siblings sustained various degrees of injury and were rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital were they are currently receiving treatment. Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, who paid a visit at the hospital condemned the attacks and assured that the culprits will be immediately arrested and charged. Source: Benue News

Police arrest fake soldier extorting money from prostitutes in Abuja

A self-professed soldier, identified only as Emeka, was on Saturday reportedly arrested for extorting money from prostitutes in a brothel in Zone 2 area of Dutsen Alhaji, Abuja. The 27-year-old man, a resident of Zone 3 in the area, was arrested at about 2.00 a.m. in the brothel fully kitted in army camouflage, Daily Trust is reporting. His arrest came after he went to the brothel with his accomplice where they broke into the rooms of the prostitutes and forcefully extorted some undisclosed amount of money from them. Reports claim that the commercial sex workers who refused to give them money were beaten up by the suspects, while some that gave less than N1,000 were tied with rope. Bakassi Militants appeal to Niger Delta Avengers to stop blowing up oil pipelines

Bakassi Militants under the aegis of Bakassi Strike Force, have appealed to their counterparts, the Niger Delta Avengers, to stop blowing up pipelines in the region. In an interview with Channels TV, the Militants asked the group to desist from carrying out more attacks on oil installations as such acts will only inflict more hardship on the people of the region. The body of a nine-year-old boy was found dumped on the road on Sunday morning, May 8 in Al-Nasiriya town in Wirshiffana district, Libya. Ehab Al-Maedani had been abducted by Wirshiffana criminal gangs for about 10 days before the kidnappers decided to kill him and throw him on the road as his family failed to pay the LYD2,000 ransom they demanded. A 27 year old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her apartment in south Delhi’s Defence Colony Friday night, March 27. The woman, identified as Priyanka Kapoor, was found hanging from the ceiling fan, said police. Her family blamed Priyanka’s husband Nitin Chawla,  for her death, claiming that he abused her. He has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. That fateful night, the former model's mother was unable to reach her on the phone. When the family went to her residence, they were prompted to call the police after finding the door locked from inside. According to the police, at 12.30 am on March 27, they received a call from Priyanka’s family members, who said her room was locked from inside and she was not responding to their pleas to open the door. Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors. This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State. Arrangements are in progress to move the body to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna. May His soul rest in peace, Amen.
